The abbreviated fall season is over so it is time to reflect. In all Manson had great success winning 3 league championships and were 28-8 in head to head competition!
Girls Soccer- Though their final record was 3-6 it did not reflect the growth in this program. Our turnout was up from 15 to 22 over last year and we were a very competitive team. A couple eight graders in Addie Richmond and Roberta Becerra played a big role in the improvement the team made. The future for this program is bright.
Football- The Trojan football team won its final 2 games to finish the year 3-2. Coach Johanson had to work through a number of injuries that led the team to play 4 different QB’s over the shortened season. This program will miss its seniors next year with Caden Beazley, Junior Vargas, Cody Fitzpatrick, Isai Rodriguez, Victor Leyva and Tucker Flowers all graduating. However a number of strong classes will begin to add to the depth of the program in the fall of 2021.
Cross Country- As usual our boys cross country team was expected to be strong and they were. The boys won the league championship for the 3rd straight year. The girls were a bit more of a unknown but the came through and won the league championship as well. This is the first girls cross country league championship in school history. Looking forward to next year the girls did not have any seniors this year and return promising runners Cara Hutton and Valerie Hunt. The boys graduated a couple runners that have been a big part of the program in Grant Torgesen and Jonathan Sarmiento. Up-and-coming runners Johan Cruz, Conner Clausen and Jordan Castro will need to pick up where the others left off.
Volleyball- This team was dominate from start to finish winning 36 sets out of 38 on the year in route to a 12-0 record. We were able to play all the teams in the CWB league in our abbreviated schedule so we claimed the league title. Though this is a young team the presence of middle blocker Kendall Petre will be missed next year. The other 7 varsity players all return next year with the goal of winning league again and going on to state. This team will be led by next years seniors…setter Josephine Thompson, hitter Maycee Ward and libero Lauren Soliday.
MS Volleyball- The 8th grade team was dominate winning all 7 games against tougher competition then in the past. Not only did they win every game they never lost a set going 21-0 on the season. This big group of eight graders will join our tough varsity program next year.
MS Football- Our MS team had another great year this time going 3-0 in the short season. They were lead by QB’s Vince Strecker and Chris Vazquez and running back Jaxon Teague. This group also had a great line in Oscar Valdez and Jaime Leyva. This eight grade group is big and will provide some reinforcements to the high school program next year.
Thank you so much so our coaches for this work during this shortened season. It was not easier then a normal year just faster. Our great fall coaches are Gilberto Romero, Lauren Johnson, Joey Johanson, Jerry Lopez, Bill Thompson, Kurt Toolson, Annette Quarre, Hayli Thompson, Ellen Picton, Brittany Sivertson, Leslie Burns, Sarah Wiggum, Kari Petersen, Samantha Lovelace, Steve Nygreen, Kellen Wiggum and Brad Soliday.
I would also like to thank the volunteers who made having a season possible in this crazy time…

Many others helped as line judges, supervisors, and in many other roles. This community rose to the challenge and helped pull these seasons off. We are looking forward to a great spring season for our student athletes and community.
