Manson swept both the boys and girls team titles at the NCW 1B/2B championships held at Wapato Point on Wednesday afternoon. The meet marked the boys 3rd straight championship, but the girls made their mark by winning the first team championship in school history.
Grant Torgesen won the individual title to pace the Trojans. The boys placed all 5 scorers in the top 14 to run away with the championship, beating 2nd place Liberty Bell by 19 points. The varsity team consisted of Torgesen, Jon Sarmiento, Conner Clausen, Luka Westfall, Johan Cruz, Jordan Castro and Keith Medina.
The girls also placed all 5 runners in the top 14, led by Ava Westfall in 4th place. The girls effort was even more impressive in that they only had 5 members on the team which left them with no depth to fall back on. They fought through injuries during the season to make their mark. Besides Westfall, other runners were Valerie Hunt, Cara Hutton, Ella England, and Leea Westfall.
Manson next competes in the regional championships on Thursday in Wenatchee.
